Aggregate Limit - In a single

Aggregate Winnings - Simply,

Anchor - Term used to describe
the player who is sitting in the last position on a blackjack
table. This person is responsible for the final decision,
and so will anchor the game.
Ante - This is a poker term.
A small portion of the minimum bet that you put into the
pot before a new game starts.
Any Craps - This is a craps
term. A one roll dice bet covering the 2, 3, or 12. See

Any Seven - This is a craps
term. A one roll bet that the next roll of the dice will
be a seven.
Baccarat - This is a card game
where you win if your hand is the hand with the total the
closest to 9 discounting all multiples of 10 (10-20-30-...so
19 becomes 9, 25 becomes 5 and so on).
Banker - The person booking
the action of the other bettors; can be the dealer or a
player.
Bankroll - Your total available
money for gambling.
Barred - A person who is not
allowed to enter inside the casino. Please if you encounter
gambling problems, refer to the anonymous gamblers.
Base - It is a craps term designing
the area on the dice table where most of the bets are made
and paid.
Bet - The common word for gamble
or wager.
Betting Limits - The minimum
and maximum bet values that can be set in a game.
Black Book - In Nevada, this
term designs a list of persons not allowed to enter any
casino. See "Barred".
Blackjack - A card game where
you try to beat the dealer by getting closest to 21 without
going over (bust). Also known as 21, but blackjack is not
the same as 21. See the playing rules and strategies for
a better understanding of what blackjack is.
Bluff - In poker, players bluff
when they raise a weak hand in the hope of driving out players
with stronger hands. This is an important factor when playing
in real life, but less relevant when online.
Bust - To go over 21 in Blackjack,
and losing the hand as consequence.
C.O.D - Incoterm meaning Cash
On Delivery. So no credit is allowed.
Casino Advantage - The house
edge, the advantage the casino has on players.
Chase - You chase when you
try to win back your losses with a second (and more important)
bet.
Chips - the little round tokens
used on gaming tables in lieu of real money.
Cracking The Nut - Winning
enough money to cover your expenses and make a small profit.
Craps - Dice term for 2, 3,
or 12.
Croupier - The French word
designing casino dealers, mainly in Roulette and Baccarat
games.
Dealer - The guy who deals
the games. The man to beat...
Desperado - Someone who bets
on credit with no solution if he loses.
Deuce - A two. Waw, that's
what I call definition.
Dozen Bet - Roulette term :
a bet on twelve numbers in roulette, i.e. 1-12. See also
the strategies guide.
Draw - Poker term, the second
round of cards dealt.
Draw Button - In video poker,
this allows the player to draw up to five new cards.
Even Money - It is a kind of
bet that pays you back the same amount you gambled, plus
your original wager.
Expected Return - It's the
average amount paid back on a particular play for a particular
bet.
Expected Win Rate - Part of
the total amount of money gambled that you should expect
to win or lose during the game.
Eye in the Sky - Video surveillance
and live monitoring watching you from above. Not relevant
in online gambling. Or is it your wife ?
Face Cards - These cards are
the King, Queen or Jack in a deck of cards.
Fat - A person with a large
bankroll. "He's fat" : means he is "loaded",
or has "deep pockets" or is "on fat street".
Gambling whales are fat.
Field Bet - Carps term. A one-roll
bet that the next number rolled will be a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10,
11 or 12.
Fill - Poker term. To draw
a card that makes a 5 card hand.
Firing - A player betting large
amounts of money.
Fish - An unexperienced player.
Flat Betting - Wagering the
same amount on each bet.
Flat Top - A slot machine whose
jackpot is always a fixed amount <> progressive jackpot.
Fold - Poker term. When a player
declines a bet and drops out of the hand. Unexperienced
players fold too often usually.
High Poker - Standard poker
term. In standard poker, as compared to low poker or lowball,
in high poker the high hands win.
High Roller - It is a big bettor.
Hit - When you take another
card. In online casino, you usually see this button when
you play video poker.
Holding Your Own - You hold
your own when you break even.
House - The persons operating
the casino.
House Advantage - It is the
casino's advantage over the players in any gambling game.
House Edge - The percentage
of each bet that you make that the house takes in, and in
consequence that you should expect to lose. The house will
generate its own income in paying off less than the true
odds.
Inside Bet - A bet in roulette
on a single number including 0 or 00, or any combination
of numbers. This is an inside bet because you bet on a number.
Numbers are considered inside the table.
Insurance - In blackjack, when
the dealer's upcard is an ace, you are offered to take an
inside bet called insurance. If the dealer has a blackjack,
the bet will be paid 2:1. Otherwise (if the dealer hasn't
balckjack), the insurance bet loses and you lose it.
Insurance Bet - Making two
(or more) bets at a craps table. One or the other of these
bets is sure to win.
Laydown - Another word designing
a wager.
Laying The Points - Betting
on the favorite.
Layout - The table covered
with graphics where you place your bets.
Let It Ride - Another poker
game variant.
Limit - Maximum amount a player
may wager on a specific bet or event OR the maximum amount
a player may increase a previous bet (at poker, etc) OR
the maximum amount bet before the dealer changes odds and/or
the points.
Live Hand - A hand that could
still win the pot.
Loaded - A person with a large
bankroll - see Fat.
Low Ball - A Poker game in
which the pot is awarded to the hand with the lowest poker
value.
Low Poker - The same as Low
Ball.
Marker Puck - Small plastic
disks used to mark the "point" in craps.
Midnight - Bet that the 12
will appear on the next roll.
Mini Baccarat - A mini version
of baccarat, played with fewer players, dealers, and formality
but following the same rules as baccarat. N.B. The minimum
bet is also smaller than in real baccarat.
Monster Roll - A roll which
lasts more than 20 minutes or a roll generating tons of
profits for the players.
Muck - Poker term. Another
word for "discard" or "throw away your hand".
Net Winnings - Total payout
minus the player's stake. Also see Gross Winnings.
Non Negotiable - A promotional
chip offered by the casino but that you can't exchange for
cash.
Number Pool - The numbers range
from which the player chooses the numbers to play. See also
the block
betting strategy in Roulette.
Odds - The probability ratio
or the amount ration a bet will pay. For example 2:1, 3:2.
One Eyed - The one eyed cards
are the Jack of hearts, the Jack of spades or the King of
diamonds, because these characters show only one eye because
they are drawn in profile.
Outside Bets - These are the
roulette bets located on the outside part of the table.
This involves that you bet on 12 to 18 numbers at one time.
This leads to lower payouts.
Outside Numbers - In Craps,
the totals 4, 10, 5, and 9
Overlay - It is a bet where
the player has an edge over the house.
Past Performance - The study
of prior events in the hope to determine the outcome of
a future bet. This is of course, bs. Derived from stock
market analysis ?
Past Post - Another bs. Betting
in function of what has taken place.
Pay Cycle - The number of plays
required for the machine to cycle through all possible winning
and non-winning combinations. To me, it has no consistency
and no impact on the game.
Payback Percentage - You often
see "payback (or payout) 97.8% audited by PWC"
: this is the part of each dollar played in a video or slot
machine that the machine is programmed (and thus this factor
can be modified) to return to the player. Payback percentage
is 100 percent minus the house edge.

Payout Table - This is a board
telling the player what each winning hand will pay for the
number of coins inserted.
Pit - The area restricted to
the casino's employees, dealers...inside the group of gaming
tables. In online gambling, this is the space between the
kitchen and your computer ;-)
Pit Boss - In online gambling,
your wife.
Place Bet - Craps term : the
place numbers are 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10. This kind of bet
is a wager that either one or more of the place numbers
will show up before a seven.
Pot - Poker term : it is the
amount of money that accumulates in the middle of the table
as each player antes, bets, and raises. If your hand wins,
the pot goes to you.
Probability - A branch of mathematics
that measures the likelihood that an event will occur. A
probability is always >=0 (impossible event) or <=1
(event will occur for sure).
Progressive Slots - Slots that
allow the player to increase the potential jackpot each
time a new coin is inserted for play. But, if you want to
have a chance of winning the jackpot, you have to play with
coins of greater value. Read
the rules for this.
Rack - Box holding chips and
checks.
Raise - Poker term : a player
raises by matching the previous bet and then betting more,
this increases the stake for remaining players.
Rake - A casino charge for
each hand of poker. Usually a percentage or flat fee taken
from the pot after each round of betting.
Red-Black Bet - In Roulette,
an outside bet on the red or a black numbers. This bet is
played off at even money.
Reel - The little spinning
wheel on the slot machines displaying the graphical symbols.
RFB - Room-Food-Beverage. Offered
for free only to high rollers.
River - Poker term : it is
the final card dealt in a hand of stud poker or hold 'em
poker. When you stay until the 5th and final round in 7
card stud poker, you "go to the river".
RNG - Random Number Generator.
Computer chip/software inside a slot machine, generating
the random numbers. See the slots

Scared Money - Money that you
can't afford to lose, and you shouldn't wager.
Shark - Someone playing as
a fish at the beginning of the game but who is in fact a
very clever guy.
Shoe - The box where the shuffled
cards are and from where they are dealt.
Shooter - Craps term : the
person rolling the dice.
Showdown : Poker term : after
the last round, the remaining players must show their hands
in the showdown to know who the winner is.
Shuffle - To mix up the order
of the cards.
Silver Mining - Looking for
coins left in the slot machines area. Pfff...

Soft Hand - When a hand contains
an ace counted as eleven in blackjack.
Soft Player - A player who
will wager less money after a win and double up after a
loss.
Stake - The amount of money
you are willing to play within a given session.
Stand - In blackjack, you stand
when you refrain from taking another card.
Standing Hand - A Blackjack
hand with 17 or more. The dealer usually stands at 17.
Steal - Poker term : when you
win the pot by bluffing.
Tight Slots - have a lower
payout over a period of time but they have a higher advantage
over the player.
Token - The small coins used
to play slots.
True Odds - The ratio between
the number of times one event will occur and the number
of times another one will occur. The odds in a casino are
usually not the true odds.
Underlay - A bad bet. The opposite
of overlay.
Upcard - The card all blackjack
players see before they play. It is the card drawn by the
dealer that is face up.
Wave - Bending the edge of
a card during play to identify it later.
Whale - A high roller. Usually
associated with "Gambling" : Gambling whale.
Wild Card - Another word for
joker.
Wrong Bettor - Craps term :
a player who bets on the Don't Pass Line.
